Hypnotherapy is a powerful, natural, and highly effective form of talking therapy that uses hypnosis to gain access to and work with the subconscious mind. Using the power of suggestion to bring about change to our behaviour, thoughts, and feelings.
Hypnotherapy will allow you to enter a mental space where you can explore and uncover deep rooted beliefs, understand where they originate from and rewrite those that no longer serve your growth or happiness.
In the state of hypnosis, you will experience a deep sense of relaxation, your mind is focused and your subconscious mind is open to ideas and suggestions to help you make positive changes.
You can achieve a more balanced way of living by clearing the neural pathways to clear negative thought patterns and reset and reframe any addictive, unproductive or destructive patterns of behaviour.
Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state and an everyday occurrence for everybody – without you even realising it. For example, have you ever been driving, arrived at a destination, and thought “I don’t actually recall the journey here”? That’s because you were on ‘autopilot’ – you were in a natural hypnotic state. The same can be achieved if you're completely absorbed by a good book or you're simply daydreaming.
What all these instances have in common is that the mind has become very focused on something and is less aware of the surroundings.
I use my voice to gently guide you into the hypnotic state, where you will be fully aware of what is happening. You are always in control of your responses and can communicate with ease, in accordance with your own values.
We will work together at your pace, guided by your needs.
You’ll be welcomed into a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment.
We will discuss the issues that are important to you, looking at where you are in life now and where you would like to be.
Through discussion and the use of techniques and strategies, we’ll work towards reaching your goals and achieving positive lasting change.
Our sessions won't just be about achieving goals; they will also be about you reconnecting with yourself again, gaining control, feeling well in body and mind, being more present and enjoying all that life has to offer.
Hypnotherapy is a safe and highly effective method for treating a wide range of issues and behaviours including anxiety and stress, weight loss and balanced eating, changing limiting behaviours, habits, and addiction and for improving performance. It can also provide relief from the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other auto-immune conditions. This is by no means an exhaustive list, so if you are experiencing any other issues or have any other concerns, please contact me to discuss how I can help.
Are you self-critical?
Do you trust your own abilities and judgement?
Do you find it difficult to make decisions?
Do you want to please everyone all the time?
Do you feel ‘down’ about life?
Thoughts and feelings of low self-esteem and being worthless can significantly affect us both internally and externally.
Internally, by creating negative self-beliefs and internal dialogue, catastrophising about the future and continually going over events or incidents in the past.
Externally by lacking boundaries, being indecisive, being aggressive or argumentative, or demonstrating an unwillingness to try anything new.
I can offer a treatment programme, tailored specifically for you, using Hypnotherapy and NLP to help you build your self-esteem, enhance your positivity and improve your relationship with yourself and your emotions.
Do you feel anxious in social situations or in a group?
Does self-doubt stop you from achieving your goals?
Do you lack confidence with the opposite sex?
Does self-doubt stop you from achieving your goals?
Do you feel let down by life in any way?
Confidence comes from within… but sometimes it seems impossible to find.
A lack of self-confidence can cause many negative feelings and emotions such as:
Isolation and loneliness, embarrassment, fear, blame, resentment, envy, worthlessness, and depression.
Hypnotherapy and NLP can help you rebuild the confident and powerful inner you… Allowing you to be more confident in social situations, improving your relationships, connecting more easily with others, increasing your assertiveness, and providing you with the tools to build a strong positive self-image.
The pounding heart, the racing thoughts, panic attacks, sweaty palms, and the impending sense of doom… anxiety is the worst feeling there is. Feelings of worry, fear, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome; everyone experiences anxiety at some point in life and in certain situations it's completely normal and appropriate. However, for some people it becomes uncontrollable, overwhelming, and debilitating.
If you worry, or feel fear or unease about something with an uncertain outcome, Hypnotherapy can help you gain back control in your life.
Symptoms of anxiety are different for each individual, so a treatment programme will be tailored just for you, based on your individual needs and applied with compassion, understanding and sensitivity.
Fear is a normal and healthy part of life. In fact, fear plays an important role in keeping us from harm and alerting us to the presence of physical or psychological danger or threat. Everyone experiences fear differently, with physical and emotional symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, sweating and nausea to name a few and under normal circumstances, fear can be managed through reason and logic.
A fear becomes a phobia when the exaggerated anticipation, or anxiety, as well as the emotional and physical response is so great that it is debilitating and interferes with everyday life, making it impossible to control, causing severe responses such as panic attacks, nausea, difficulty breathing and paralysis.
If your fear or phobia is impacting your life so seriously that it is preventing you from truly living, then its time to do something about it and Hypnotherapy can help you make a positive change.
Here are some common phobias I treat but this is not an exhaustive list:
Hypnotherapy offers a scientifically-proven safe, natural and powerful treatment for pain, allowing you to minimise or avoid painkillers and reduce their side effects.
Common pain conditions that Hypnotherapy can help with include:
It is essential that you have fully explored any health problems with your GP or specialist consultant prior to seeking help from Hypnotherapy for chronic pain management.
Often a variety of approaches are required to help reduce pain, such as medical/pharmaceutical pain relief and complementary therapies such as Hypnotherapy.
I can offer a Hypnotherapy and NLP treatment plan tailored to your needs, that will help you develop strategies to cope with pain and deal with any associated issues, using a variety of techniques that may include direct suggestion for pain reduction, reframing the perception of pain, numbing and dissociation and distraction.
Do you struggle to get to sleep at night?
Do you toss and turn, worrying that you won’t get enough sleep or that you’ll be exhausted in the morning?
Do you wake in the middle of the night, unable to get back to sleep?
Insomnia is a common problem that effects around 1 in every 3 people in the UK.
Its easy to underestimate the affects of insomnia and sleep disorders… until it happens to you. Sure, we can all feel a little tired now and again, but chronic insomnia can be extremely debilitating, making us feel as though we can’t cope with our everyday responsibilities and activities.
Hypnotherapy is a natural and holistic way to establish where your sleep problems originate from and to help create new healthy sleep patterns.
I can work with you to help you say goodbye to depleted energy levels, poor concentration, tired eyes and dull skin, depression, high blood pressure and weight gain caused by sleep problems.
Compulsive behaviours can range from simple everyday behaviours to more reckless behaviours leading to self-harm. A compulsive behaviour can become an addiction when you are no longer able to control the behaviour and it begins to affect your ability to function socially, academically, and professionally.
Compulsive behaviour comes in many guises and whilst not an exhaustive list, these are the more common behaviours that have been successfully treated using hypnosis:
If you indulge more in a behaviour than you had intended to, that behaviour is controlling you and it is time to stop. Ask yourself…
Does my problem behaviour take up more of my time than I want it to?
Do I need to indulge in my problem behaviour more and more in order to get any satisfaction?
Have I tried to quit my problem behaviour before but have been unable to do so?
Is my problem behaviour affecting other areas of my life, such as relationships, work or studies?
Do I try to hide my problem behaviour?
Do I experience feelings of anxiety, shame, guilt, or temporary elation around my problem behaviour?
Have I withdrawn from other activities in life and feel a sever lack of enjoyment for anything other than my problem behaviour?
If the answer is YES to these questions, then it’s time to do something about it.
Many people who have addictions or compulsive behaviours can feel out of control, ashamed and guilty and therefore avoid seeking help. But help is here.
To successfully quit your addiction or stop your compulsive behaviour, you have to want to quit or stop.
Hypnotherapy can help you in many ways;
Unwanted and unhealthy habits can take an overwhelming place in our lives, creating a negative impact on work, school life and on relationships with the people we love.
Often bad habits become a burden on us and others can judge us harshly, perceiving the habit as socially unacceptable.
Everyone is different and will have different triggers and exhibit different symptoms, and as such I will tailor a treatment plan specific to you, considering also your lifestyle, values and beliefs.
Whist not an exhaustive list, some common bad habits that I can help with are:
Are you ready to quit?
Are you committed and motivated to quit?
Hypnotherapy can help you…
Most clients only need one single session…
One session = One non-smoker!
But occasionally some people need a few sessions, particularly if they are dealing with different triggers that manifest as stress, anxiety, or depression.
Whatever your personal situation, together we will explore your relationship with cigarettes and smoking; how many you smoke a day, when and where and your emotions and thought processes before you light up.
Hypnotherapy works successfully to help you quit your smoking habit by:
Imagine how great life will be as a non-smoker…
Why use hypnotherapy to quit smoking?
Because it WORKS!
Stress is the most common obstacle to well-being in modern day life... It's invisible and most of the time we go about our day-to-day tasks and challenges and learn to cope with stress along the way.
A certain amount of stress is beneficial because it can stimulate us to a level of optimal behavioural and cognitive performance. Short-term stress primes the brain for improved performance, keeping us alert and responsive.
However, individuals that experience prolonged or chronic stress suffer both emotionally and physically, with common symptoms including anxiety, altered sleep, and eating patterns, poor memory and lack of concentration, mood swings, feelings of unhappiness, depression, negative thinking, aches and pains and an increased susceptibility to illness. In some cases, individuals turn to an increased use of alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes to cope.
The reality is there will always be situations that cause us some degree of stress and discomfort; Hypnotherapy is a very effective way of relaxing the body and allowing the mind to return to a state of calm. It can teach you to pay attention to your body, so you experience the difference between feeling highly stressed and being calm and centred. You can build relaxation skills and an increased sense of self-regulation.
Simply knowing you have the ability to relax deeply and reorganise your thoughts and feelings can have a powerful effect in helping you better manage stress.
Post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder which occurs after being involved in or witnessing a traumatic event. Commonly referred to as ‘shell shock’ after war veterans but anyone who experiences a profound emotional and psychological trauma experience can get PTSD.
It can leave an individual with a shattered sense of safety and security, flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue, intrusive negative thoughts, distressing memories, aggression, an inability to trust or connect with others, eating disorders and social withdrawal.
Whatever the causes of your trauma, and whenever it occurred, if it is causing you psychological and emotional distress and suffering, Hypnotherapy can help you heal, by overcoming the pain, regaining your sense of self and finding inner peace.
Whilst this is not an exhaustive list, examples of traumatic events and experiences can include: Combat victims and survivors
Land, sea or air crash survivors
Bullying or shaming
Violent attack
Sexual abuse and rape
Illness, surgery and medical procedures
Neglect
Inconsistant parenting
Domestic abuse
Suffering and the loss of a loved one or sudden death of a loved one
High stress occupations
Divorce or the breakdown or a significant relationship
Have you had enough of the endless dieting that never works?
Are you fed up with feeling out of control when it comes to eating and weight?
Weight loss is a lifelong struggle for many people; but the nature of weight, diet and health issues varies from person to person.
Sometimes issues stem from childhood conditioning, other times, the struggle is overeating in response to emotional triggers such as work stress or relationship problems. Whatever your weight loss or body image struggle may be, the key to overcoming it doesn’t start in the gym, or with how many fruit and vegetables you eat a day. It starts in your head, by getting to the core of the problem.
By teaching the brain to accept a positive relationship with food and a motivated approach to exercise you can begin to move toward a healthy mind and body balance. By identifying the reasons behind your overeating or poor diet choices, I can help you to change your mind set and attitude towards food.
As we progress on our journey together, we can free you from the endless cycle of diets, disappointments and general unhappiness and instead create a new way of thinking for a sustainable relationship with food and a motivated approach towards a healthy lifestyle.
